Oracle Text: At the beginning of each of your main phases, if you haven't added mana to your mana pool with this ability this turn, you may add up to X mana of any one color to your mana pool, where X is the number of Islands target opponent controls.

Rulings:
• You can add less than X mana if you want, even zero.
• You can target a different opponent each turn.
• The ability is not a mana ability.

Questions:

Since the oracle text starts with an "At" These next questions will assume that Carpet of Flowers ability is a Triggered ability.

1 - If Carpet of Flowers is a triggered ability will it at any phase of resolution interact with Suppression Field?

2 - If Carpet of Flowers is played in the pre-combat main phase can you pull mana from during the post combat main phase of the same turn?

3 - Reguarding the clause "if you haven't added mana to your mana pool with this ability this turn" specifically the "this" portion of that statement. If I have more than one copy of Carpet of Flowers in play does each one trigger independently? ...or does one trigger and the rest can not as a result of each other copy checking for the resolution of A resolution of any Carpet of Flowers ability regardless if it was that copy's ability trigger?

ex. I have 2 Carpet of Flowers in play, and my opponent has 2 island in play. Assuming nothing else happens to the game state do I get 4 mana of any color for both triggering, or do I only get 2 because Carpet of Flowers can only activate once per turn?

Thank you. I tried to look this up myself, but it got a bit too complicated for me.

1. No, Suppression Field only affects activated abilities.

2. Yes, this is a trick used in Spanish Inquisition

3. They trigger separately, and you can choose to add mana from each.

There's an additional cute trick. You have one Carpet on the battlefield and another one in your hand. When you go to the pre-combat main phase and the first Carpet triggers, you can decide not to add anything, and then cast the second one. When the post-combat phase begins, both Carpets will trigger - one because it didn't trigger before, and the other becuase you didn't add mana with it. This can be useful if you need tons of mana at a given moment.

If I use the ability to add mana in my first main phase, then Chain of Vapor the Carpet back to my hand and recast it, can I get mana from it in my second main phase?

@emidln

Yes, because "this" refers to "this permanent," and replaying it after bouncing it makes it a different permanent.
