I have Tidespout Tyrant in play and cast Gilded Drake. Can I arrange things so the exchange mandated by the Drake takes place, then Tidespout Tyrant's ability bounces the Drake to my hand? Seems possible, but also seems way to good to be true.
I did some searching for this but didn't find much. Sorry if this is a well known interaction.
Reading cards ftw
EDIT: I should do that.
You can't, because Tidespout Tyrant's ability triggers when you cast Gilded Drake, and Gilded Drake's ability resolves when it enters the battlefield. So, Tidespout Tyrant's ability will go on the stack on top of the Gilded Drake spell, and will resolve before the Drake is even on the battlefield.

You can however respond to Drake's trigger with an instant to bounce our own Drake :)
1) Play Gilded Drake
2) Tidespout Triggers and bounces permanent (can't bounce Drake since not in play)
3) Drake ETB
4) Drake ETB trigger
5) play an instant e.g. Brainstorm in response to Drake ETB
6) Tidespout triggers targeting Drake
7) resolve Tidespout trigger
8) resolve Drake and steal a creature while Drake is back to your hand.
Sadly you can't just play Drake with Tidespout in play to recycle it. You need to cast an instant in response. Isochron Scepter + Tidespout + Gilded Drake could be the efficient reusing engine if you're looking for one :)
That doesn't exactly work either. Both the drake and your opponent's creature must be in play when Drake's ability resolves, otherwise no exchange is made. You need to let Drake's ability resolve (so you gain control of an opposing creature and the opponent gains control of the Drake), and then bounce the Drake.

God I'm dumb. RTFC FTW, yeah that means I was playing wrong with my ATS build a year ago, although this is probably better since you don't have to bounce with instants, any card will do.

I had a show and tell deck a loooong time ago that abused this. Using a drake, to bounce the drake you just gave them is pretty awesome.
