So, I'm wondering if Sphere of Resistance would make me have to pay an extra :1: to play a morph creature?

This statement makes me think it might not (since it seems to indicate that playing a morph creature is a replacement for paying its mana cost, if I'm interpreting the legalese correctly):

"The phrase "Morph [cost]" means "You may play this card as a 2/2 face-down creature, with no text, no name, no subtypes, no expansion symbol, and a mana cost of :0: , by paying :3: rather than its mana cost."

EDIT: Semi-related question: Would Lodestone Golem recognize the creature as being non-artifact??

Can someone help me out? :eyebrow:

Morph is an alternate cost for casting a spell, and thus is affected by cost reducers, cost increasers, and cost fixers, just like if you were casting the spell for it's mana cost.

So morph will cost :1: more.

Edit question: yes it would, even if the actual card is an artifact, because it has only the card type of creature. Being colorless and being an artifact are not one in the same, as Rise of the Eldrazi will show more obviously.

So since it has no subtypes, it's a non-artifact spell for the purposes of Lodestone Golem?

To nitpick, the question can be answered simply. Playing a morph is still casting a spell. The only differences are that you pay 3 instead of the mana cost and the creature comes in face down. Sphere of Resistance makes spells cost 1 more, so of course it affects morph. Also, you're right about the Lodestone Golem question for the given reason.

Artifact isn't a subtype. It's a card type.
