I just saw this in the tournaments T4/8 thread. I think this deserves some attention because of the surprising turnout and the type of decks that ended up in T8.
The meta looks very healthy with the typical DTB with their variations seeing the most representation and then a very diverse amount of 1 ofs. All in all, this is almost exactly what one would expect. Makes me wonder if the upcoming tournament in Syracuse will mirror this meta at all? What do you guys think?
After looking at the lists I'm gussing the TarmoDreadStill players were on a team as probably were the Red Tempo Thresh guys. I'm not really familiar with this type of Thresh deck, but the numbers speak for themselves with 3 taking top 8. Makes me think the skill level of the pilots of this Tarmostill decks and the Red Thresh decks had a lot to do with this placement.
I wonder if the Enduring Ideal deck took the field by surprise. This deck is well known in Extended but I haven't ever encountered it in Legacy before. Personally, I know I would be unprepared to play against it and I have no idea what my SB plan would be.
On a side note, its cool to see a FEB in top 8, it's been awhile.

Looks fairly interesting to say the least. Kinda crazy the entire T8 was dominated by Threshold and Dreadstill, but cool to say the least. I don't think you'll see this same kind of result in NY, but hey who knows.

I don't know. Three Threshold-Decks in the Top 8 is not that unusual and I think Dreadstill is fairly popular in Italy, given that there were several Italian events where Dreadstill has shown up in the Top 8. As for the Ideal and FEB lists - in almost every big tournament there is one list about which I think "WTF, how could this make Top8?" - and here there are two. Not a big thing.
The Threshold lists look very strange. "Very strange" as in "absolutely not mirroring anything what is supposed to be optimal by The Source members and Threshold players outside of Italy". Therefore, you absolutely could question the healthiness of the meta - three "bad" Threshold lists and two "random" decks in the Top 8.The meta looks very healthy with the typical DTB with their variations seeing the most representation and then a very diverse amount of 1 ofs.
(I don't want to say "The lists are bad and the meta sucks", just pointing out that you could possibly argue that way)
Huh? Since when do Americans care about European tournaments? :]Makes me wonder if the upcoming tournament in Syracuse will mirror this meta at all? What do you guys think?
There are some interesting choices in the three Red Tempo lists, but nothing that I can see that would cause you to call them bad decks. They seem to be pretty good lists as far as I can tell :)
Now the FEB list? Can't believe that T8ed... 1 Living Wish? Huh? 1 Root Maze?
The aggro loam list is pretty straight forward, and the Enduring Ideal list seems like a lot of fun :) I'd be happy to see that come back as a combo deck.
Hi all!!!
I'm a Italian player and I had to organize the tournament "Dragonsleague Feltre 07/06/08)
I was testing ideal for a 3 months,but it's a bad deck (sry for my language -.-)
In Milan ideal versus...
1° game : goblin
2° game : Ichorid
3° game : DragonStompy
4° game : Faeries
5° game : Landstill
6° game : WhiteStacks
7° game : ID
top8: Aggro Loam
top4: TarmoDreadstill
Versus these decks it's easy wins with these deck. He had a good luck in the tourament -.-
The thing that I find really interesting in the tourney lineup is that it's a European Legacy tourney and no Aluren. I thought Aluren was bigger there.
Videos?
This is the report (in italian) of the Ideal deck:

A strange play: vs goblin he resolved ideal and took dovescape instead of confinement. It was risky because it's a time walk for goblin (can do something stupid like eot vial a goblin, untap warchief, driver driver gg), unless he was on topdeck (0 cards in hand) and cannot keep the confinement next turn.
it probably would have been safer to go for form of the dragon first considering it has the moat effect, although dovescape is usually the correct choice if you can survive until the next turn.
LOL, awesome:
Round 4 - Faeries
G1: I don't remember much... he beats me down to 13 with 1/1 flying Faeries... then in his turn he plays Mystical for Blinkmoth Infusion and my nearby friend and I look puzzled at each other, then we pay more attention and are blown away when he casts Erratic Explosion...
Anyway, here's how fast he went off:
R1/G1: unknown
R1/G3: ~6 after a Chant and Wrath
R2/G1: 4 (one turn slower than the Ichorid kill)
R2/G2: 3
R2/G3: 4
R3/G1: 4
R3/G3: unknown
R4/G2: 5 w/ Boseiju (he lost to Faeries)
R5/G1: 5 w/ Chant
R5/G2: unknown
R6/G1: 4 (Trini in play)
R6/G3: 3
T8/G2: unknown (after a DDreams)
T8/G3: 3
T4/G2: unknown, didn't matter as it got Stifled/Trickbinded/Krosan Gripped to hell

It was also his first legacy tournament. He didn't know anything of the format and made the list the day before with some firends. Actrually looks like the format is not prepared at all to enchantments and uncounterable 7cc Sorceries.

Did he have experience playing Idol in Extended?
I didn't think ideal would have a chance in a format dominated by FoW, Daze, and the other types of permission. Of course ideal will dodge c/b because of its really high CC but fighting through the rest of the permission seemed like it would be an issue.
His list is nearly an exact port from the extended decks except he played with the mana base a bit, then did this
-1 solitary confinement
-1 land
-1 top
-1 dovescape
-1 form of the dragon
+1 mystical tutor
+4 brainstorm
I would be worried about any of the thrash decks due to their permission and their wastelands.
His report was actually kind of fun. He's a T1 player, but decided to play in a Legacy tournament. Interestingly, he said that in Italy, Legacy is viewed as a "poor man's Legacy."
